Chaplaincy

Egerton University has a multi-faith Chaplaincy, a section which provides environment for free interaction of mainly four religious groups i.e. Protestant (Egerton University Christian Union), Catholic Students Association (CSA), Egerton University Seventh Day Adventist (EUSDA) and Egerton Muslim Association (EMSA). The multi-faith chaplaincy is there for students and staff to explore spirituality, faith, religion, value, meaning and ethics. This multi-faith chaplaincy exists within the academic community to nurture faith, spirituality and social responsibility and to provide pastoral presence, especially for students.

University Chaplaincy

 

Egerton University operates a multi-faith Chaplaincy that provides an environment for free interaction among four primary religious groups: the Egerton University Christian Union (EUCU), Catholic Students Association (CSA), Egerton University Seventh Day Adventist (EUSDA), and Egerton Muslim Association (EMSA).

  • Pastoral Care & Counseling: Provides spiritual guidance, referral services, and pastoral care to students and staff.
  • Faith Nurturing: Offers a space to explore spirituality, ethics, personal values, and social responsibility within the academic community.
  • Administrative Link: Acts as the liaison between the University administration, the student faith communities, and EUSA via a multi-faith committee.
  • Leadership Development: Conducts annual Chaplaincy Fellowship training for student religious leaders.

Structure 

 

One University Chaplain serves all campuses. Coordination across groups is maintained through a multi-faith committee that meets twice per semester. A Student Religious Congress representative—elected on a rotational basis across faith groups and campuses—links the Chaplaincy directly to the Egerton University Students Association (EUSA).

Worship Places 

 

 

 

  • Njoro Main Campus:
    • Christian Union: Sunday services in the B Lecture Halls.
    • EUSDA: Sabbath services in the B Lecture Halls.
    • CSA: Services at St. Augustine Chapel (just outside the Main Gate).
    • Muslim Students: Friday prayers at the Njoro Mosque. Senior Muslim staff provide ongoing spiritual guidance.
  • Nakuru Town Campus College: Religious groups are allocated designated lecture halls through the Office of the Principal, overseen via the Dean of Students office.
